Last week, more than 470 students at Millidgeville North School in Saint John were engaged through UCOF’s School Outreach Program as part of our #BHM celebrations across New Brunswick.
The session was a vibrant and immersive exploration of Black history, leadership, and excellence. From traditional African storytelling to inspiring spotlights on leaders such as Nelson Mandela and Queen Amina, students reflected on the values of courage, resilience, empathy, and vision, and were encouraged to connect those principles to their own lives and leadership journeys.

The level of engagement was remarkable. We are sincerely grateful to the school community and, in particular, to Tomalyn Young, Provincial Coordinator for UNESCO Schools in New Brunswick, for championing youth-centered, culturally grounded learning experiences that advance inclusion and global citizenship.

A heartfelt thank you as well to Olukayode Olushope, our Cultural Competency Coach, for delivering such a dynamic and thought-provoking session. His passion, depth of knowledge, and commitment to this work consistently elevate the impact of our outreach initiatives at UCOF

Last week, more than 470 students at Millidgeville North School in Saint John were engaged through UCOF’s School Outreach Program as part of our #BHM celebrations across New Brunswick.
The session was a vibrant and immersive exploration of Black history, leadership, and excellence. From traditional African storytelling to inspiring spotlights on leaders such as Nelson Mandela and Queen Amina, students reflected on the values of courage, resilience, empathy, and vision, and were encouraged to connect those principles to their own lives and leadership journeys.

The level of engagement was remarkable. We are sincerely grateful to the school community and, in particular, to Tomalyn Young, Provincial Coordinator for UNESCO Schools in New Brunswick, for championing youth-centered, culturally grounded learning experiences that advance inclusion and global citizenship.

African beadwork is more than adornment—it’s a language. From colours to patterns, every bead tells a story of identity, heritage, and meaning passed down through generations.

At the 2025 Fall Fashion festival, four outstanding graduates from UCOF’s Youth Program (Empowered Strides) brought their talent, passion, and purpose to the stages in Saint John and Fredericton. Each performance was a reminder of the power in youth expression.
